Overview
Connections Matter initiative by Prevent Child Abuse Iowa is designed to engage community members in building caring connections to improve resiliency. This face-to-face training helps childcare providers explore the little things they can all do each day to build stronger and healthier families and communities.  

Connections Matter will highlight the positive impact that warm responsive relationships between children and their caregivers has on short- and long-term health outcomes through an interactive, discussion-based curriculum.
Participants will gain a better understanding of:
~Trauma
~Brain development
~Resilience
~Knowledge about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs),
~Action planning and next steps on trauma-informed care
~Strategies for increasing and improving your own connections and tools for strengthening both personal and community resilienc

The goal of Connections Matter is to help you as a person and provider inventory the great things that you are already doing and what opportunities that you have to form stronger attachments with the children you serve and people in your community.
Objective
1.1 g. Recognizes signs of resilience in the child and family and works with the family to strengthen protective factors.  
1.1h. understands the impact of stress and trauma on a child's development and supports families in reducing children's exposure to stress.
