Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) will teach staff how to prevent, de-escalate, and respond to crisis behavior.  It's based on the philosophy of care, welfare, safety and security.  Staff will be able to identify the stages of escalating behavior, discuss communication skills, learn safety interventions, and learn more about decision making, post-crisis team responsibilities and debriefing and documentation. This is a face-to-face training.

4.3 k. Knows when to intervene to stop behavior that affects safety and/or ability to learn 
4.3 l. Remains calm and respectful toward the child exhibiting challenging behavior
4.3 m. Uses a consistent process of reflection and action to address challenging behavior
4.3 n. Allows time for the child to regain composure following challenging behavior
4.3 o. Addresses challenging behavior with the child, privately, with sensitivity and respect, following the incident
